Benefits of insulating your metal roof

If you're building a new home or planning a major renovation with a new metal roof, upgrade your roof with Anticon to enhance your comfort and keep your home in top condition.

Your new metal roof is about more than just how great it looks, it also protects you from the elements and it's a critical part of your building structure. To get the very best out of your new metal roof, Bradford recommends you upgrade to include additional roof insulation to reduce the risk of condensation, increase your roof's acoustic and thermal qualities, and improved fire resistance.

Condensation Control

Mould and mildew development in a new home is often caused by trapped moisture and condensation within the structure. This can lead to health risks for your family and long term structural damage to your home. Bradford Anticon installed directly underneath your roof sheets can prevent condensation from forming.

Additionally, Bradford Anticon is approved by the National Asthma Council's Sensitive Choice Program and that means it's recommended for asthma and allergy sufferers.

Acoustic Benefits

Sound is an important consideration. Imagine a new home where you and your family can live together in peace and quiet without disturbing each other whether you are working, playing or sleeping. Installing Bradford Anticon offers you the added benefit of improving your roof's acoustic performance.

Thermal Benefits

Heating and cooling are the highest contributors to a home's energy use. The right roof design including Bradford Anticon insulation can help improve the thermal performance of the roof and enhance the energy efficiency and comfort of your home, saving you money and making it cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

Fire Resistance

All modern homes should be as fire resistant as possible. Upgrading your roof with Bradford Anticon means you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your roof insulation is made from non-combustible fibres, suited to meet the requirements for metal roofs in bushfire rated areas. For more details on the use of Anticon for roofing in Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) bush fire prone areas, please visit Fireseal - Bushfire Attack Level (BAL).

  • What is the Difference between Bradford, Pink Batts, Earth Wool? and which is better?

They are all made of Glass Wool and comply with Australian Standards. The binder for Earth wool is different from Bradford's and Fletchers (Pink Batts). Earth wool is manufactured overseas whereas Bradford Batts & Pink Batts are Australian made.

    Which is better?

They all comply with Australian Standards. So it is a matter of personal preference. The Bradford and Fletcher's batts tend to be firmer whereas Earthwool batts may be considered to be less itchy by the installers.
